Thriller Genre

This genre of film revolves around creating tension and suspense. Thrillers aims are to create a feeling of anticipation and keep the audience on edge as well as building up a climax. They also incldue a fast paced narrative, red herrings and plot twists. Thrillers commonly get the audience adrenaline pumping and all of the elements above help to create exitment of the genre. Other generic conventions are listed below:

Sub Genres

There are many different sub generes of thriller which i have looked into, here are some of the ones i have researched and considered using for my final production:

Action Thriller: This sub genre has a great visual appeal whih includes explosions and elements of violnece. These films usually have enigma and fast paced editing. Stunts and fight scenes aresome

Crime Thriller: This obvioulsy focuses on crime and usually is from the criminals poitn of veiw. Physical action and suspicion are used and the police are sometimes used. Central topics usually involve murders, robberires and chases it also focuses on both the criminal and protagonist.

Mystery Thriller: This is very fast paced and often leaves viewers on the edge of there seat. This sub genre dosent have a lot of violence or dranger and sometimes includes a narrative which is hard to work out.

Psychological Thriller: The conflict in this sub genre is more pyschological rather than physical. The protagonist uses mental owers to overcome their situation. It incorporates drama and mystery and relys on problem solving and mental ability.

Supernatural Thriller: 'Out of this world' elemnts are used in this sub genre. They deal with the unknown questions of life ad include myths such as ghosts and aliens.

Political Thriller: This hybrid genre is set against a political issues which are national and internation. They can sometimes overlap with conspiracy thrillers, and the plot is sometimes based around true stories.

The sub genre that our group is going to use is a mystery thriller.
