Planning

Before the planning of the preliminary task i was put into a group with myself, Harry Whitfeild and Zack Jeremy. Together we decided on different camera angles and camera techniques that we wanted to try and include in this task. On the basis of this we started to brain strom ideas about what the narrative of our preliminary task would be. Ideas were being thrown here and there and we finally came to a decision. Harry had suggested that we incorporate the school environment within our preliminary film. This stood out to our group as the best idea and also one of the realistic and easiest ideas.

We each made a story boarch which was created around our final idea, this also helped us decided which room and what types of people would be best for our film. We decided on two boy school friends and in the confrence room in our school for lighting and space reasons. We also needed a big window which the boys would hear the explosion come from.

We started filming straight away with a SLR Canon 600D camera. We also used a 'Steady Cam' which was a new piece of equipment for me. Our group started filiming straight away which worked out well for us in the end as a lot of our filming was out of focus therefore we had to re-film parts of it which luckily we had lots of time to do.

Even though we had problems at the start we managed to re-film in time for the deadline and make sure everything was perfect. We allocated roles at the start of this project so that everybody had a fair amount of work to do, Zack was the main camera man with Harry being main editor and myself helping out with the editing, finding actors and helping out with any extras such as sound. We fitted into our roles nicely as Zack has done a lotof filming previously and Harry is very comfortable using Adobe Premier which is a software i had not had a chance to use yet. Although we all had different roles we all still worked as a team for example if i needed help with a decision i would ask the other memebers of my groups opinion and when Zack had a problem with lighting on the camera i helped adjest the apperture settings on the camera.

I enjoyed the preliminary very muvh and believe it allowed us to make mistakes and find ways of correcting them which was useful so that we didnt make those mistakes again in the final peice.
