David Fincher
Alfred Hitchcock

David Andrew Leo Fincher was on the 28th August, 1962. He was born in Denver Colorado. As a child he was surrounded by his parents, his mother being a mental health worker and his father being an author and reporter for 'LIFE' magazine. Some say this could have effected the type of films he decided to produce.
Fincher after working for ILM, decided to create his own career and decided to produce musci videos and television adverts.
Fincher and Dominic Sena founded the production company 'Propaganda Films' in 1987. This went on to produce one of his best films 'Se7en' as well as 'Fight Club' and more recently 'Gone Girl'.
One of Finchers trademark techniques was his use of lighting, this played a huge role in his films. By using ow key ighting created an eeiry effect in his films as well as the blue and green tints he used as well to create a low temperature feel to his work. He also used silhottes a lot to hide identity or as curiousity and mystery to his films. The last theme that is common in finchers work is the attempted sucide at the end of his films.

Alfred Joseph Hitchcock was born on the 13th of August, 1899. He was born in Leytonstone, London and was part of a strict Catholic family. He once said that his childhood was 'lonely and sheltered' and experienced some huge punishments as a kid. His childhood themes show apperances in some of his films. For example being accused of something in 'North by NorthWest'. His childhood has also made his characters in films face harsh treatment reminicient of his experiences.
Hitchcock directed his first film in 1925 and moved from the UK to Hollywood in 1930 where he produced ilms such as Physco and Vetigo.
Hitchcock is known as the 'Master of Suspence' which tells us that he is the best at making audiences feel suspence and the way he defines it as ' being experienced by the audience when they expect something bad to happen, yet are powerless to intervene'.
An example of how he has power over the audeince is in the film 'The Birds' (1963) he decided to leave out the works 'THE END' to lleave uncertainty among the audiece.
